The first Greek god was actually a goddess. She is Gaia, or Mother Earth and Mother Nature, who created herself out of primordial chaos. From her fertile womb all life sprang, and unto Mother Earth all living things must return after their allotted span of life is over. Gaia resides in all of us. She is the nurturer, the healer, the giver of life, the giver of dreams.
Gaia, as Mother Nature, personifies the entire ecosystem of Planet Earth. Mother Nature is always working to achieve and maintain harmony, wholeness and balance within the environment. Mother Nature heals, nurtures and supports all life on this planet, and ultimately all life and health depend on Her. In time, Nature heals all ills, even loss and grief.
The way of Gaia is the passive, feminine, Yin way of healing. Nature reminds us of how our rhythms are in tune with hers. To regain our harmony and our health, all we need to do is to return to the bosom of Mother Nature and live in accordance with Her laws.
Chrissie immerses herself in her garden of delights and precious orchids to restore peace, harmony and beauty to her life, to heal herself.
The beautiful goddess images are by the talented photographer/illustrator Emma Wiseman. I would give her some writing from Quiver and Emma would create the goddess bringing my writing to visual life. Eve and Gaia as one.
The image on the right is the original illustration whilst the image on the left is a photoshopped version which has greater movement. I love both and find it hard to choose between them. What about you? Do you have a favourite?
